OnStar

Many older cellular networks based on 2G and 3G technology are being shut down, which may affect your OnStar® connectivity. However, Vaughn Chevrolet Buick GMC of Ottumwa can still show you alternatives to access OnStar services.

Which Models Are Affected?
All GM vehicles with model years before 2015 will be affected by the change, and some 2015 vehicles. This includes models from current GM brands—Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac—and discontinued brands, like Pontiac, Saturn, and Oldsmobile. Search by your VIN on the OnStar website to determine if you will be affected.

Will I Still Have Access?
While the in-car features may be gone, you can still access OnStar services. The OnStar Guardian app can provide the same safety help, from GPS location tracking to emergency calls and roadside assistance. In addition, OnStar Advisors are on call 24/7, ready to help with any emergency or safety need—or just to walk you through the app setup process. Any active OnStar subscription will automatically be adjusted, so you won’t have to pay for services you can no longer use.

What Do I Do If I Still Want OnStar Connected Services?
Many new and used GM vehicles feature built-in OnStar services, giving you one more reason to feel safe on the road. For example, the 2023 Buick Enclave comes with three years of complimentary OnStar service and the Enhanced Buick Driver Confidence suite of safety services. If you want to keep using the same OnStar features, now may be the time for an upgrade.
